New Release Movies
I’ve always loved new release movies. I know that being new doesn’t necessarily make a movie better, But it is still so easy to get excited by a movie that has just appeared in the theater. I especially love seeing new release films on opening day. Everyone is just so happy and excited to be there. You can tell by the energy. They laugh at all the jokes, gasp at all the scary scenes, and even sometimes cry. Everyone seems to react as a whole as if you are at a football game or some other type of public spectacle. A movie rarely feels like a spectacle anymore, but it still does on opening day.
Sometimes new release movies will seem fun and enjoyable just because they are new. For example, Transformers the movie was not really my kind of film. I recognize it was well done and everything, but I am normally not into the action movies. Nonetheless, because I saw it when it was a new release movie, I loved it. The theater was so filled with people from my generation who had grown up on the Transformers cartoon, and everyone was psyched to see it as a live-action movie. It is easy to cheer with the heroes when the movie has just come out and everyone is happy to be seeing it.
The funny thing is, if I don’t see a new release movie on opening weekend, I usually tend to wait until it comes out on video. I’m pretty thrifty with how I spend my entertainment dollars, so if I can’t have the excitement of seeing it with a crowd that is going to react, I’m just going to wait a few months for the DVD. Still, if I can wrangle a few of my friends into putting up with the lines and packed theaters, you will see me there for the first showing. I hate to admit it, but sometimes I even skip work for new release movies. I’m sure it’s going to be the death of me ? one day I’ll be spotted by a boss or coworker when I’m supposed to be working ? But until then, I’ll go on enjoying myself.
Still, I think I have forgotten to mention the best part of new release movies. I have always loved seeing trailers for upcoming features more than even the movie itself. It’s nice to see it far ahead of time so that you can start building up anticipation. Months later, when that movie actually comes out, I’m always so excited to see it.
